Squats are an ideal form of exercise that has various benefits to the body and also the soul. First, squats help to build muscle. Apart from helping people achieve wonderful and toned leg, squats help build muscles by establishing a muscle-building environment. Secondly, squats help burn calories and fats very fast which enables muscle growth. Similarly adding weights to the squats can also accelerate calorie burning quite fast. Thirdly, squats help improve flexibility since they ensure that the muscles, tendons, and ligaments are elastic despite the aging factor. Undertaking the squatting exercises will help an individual become flexible and this may result in more mobile and improved balance. As the squats strengthen the legs, they improve balance since they boost communication between your brain and the various muscle groups thereby preventing falls. Fourthly squats help strengthen the lungs and the heart since they help the cardiac muscles and expand the lung capacity. Some of the work out injuries tend to be weak ligaments and other supportive tissues. Undertaking squat exercises helps strengthen these tissues thereby eradicating soft tissue injuries within the body.

There are minimal disadvantages of the squat exercises and but it could be dangerous and risky. First, it is risky to add weights to the squats exercise and this mostly applies to the beginners. Similarly having a poor squat format may result in injuries especially to the lower back region and damage the leg muscles. Finally, squats are known to work with glutes, the largest butt muscles and an over squatting can result in oversized backside that may not appear too attractive.
