The south is probably the most distinctive region in the USA. This region has a history of slavery and the American civil war. The people here in the south emphasize on family, religion and hold their deep conservative values. The people here are known for their “Southern hospitality” and the people here share a feeling of pride for the region and this helps create a huge strong sense of community and this helps bring people together. My stay in Texas found that life there is unique with diverse cultures with quirky traditions. The food here was different and the language was quite distinct. It is surprisingly funny here to find people waiting in line for barbeque even if it runs out. The family is an important part of people’s lives. People are welcoming and it is a common norm for people to greet each other and strangers on the streets.
On the contrary, life in the West moves slowly and it is more relaxed. The people in the west prioritize their happiness and personal accomplishments and career success. The people here love to stay outdoors and have a huge concern for the environment. Recreation is an important feature here and this can be supported by the fact that six of the Western states have legalized the use of recreaational marijuana. The values used to isolate Texas’s emphasis on family were the close-knitted family a low rate of divorces and the care for old evidenced by a low number of care homes in the region. The West can be identified by the deep conservative values centered on the analysis of the cultural aspects and how the people perceive past issues such as slavery and the American civil war which constitute some of the most important holidays still celebrated in the region.
